蓝铃花又称“妖精的铃铛”。是春天到来的迹象之一，为褐色大地带来一抹明亮的蓝色。
蓝铃花属原先属于百合科，现已归入独立出来的风信子科，多年生球茎植物。目前有11种和1种间杂交种。大多数分布在地中海盆地，仅一种，即英国蓝铃花 Hyacinthoides non-scripta，最远延生到欧洲西北部。根据分子系统学，该属被分为三组：non-scripta hispanica group，mauritanica group，italica group

♥ 形态：多年生球根植物，春天开花。线性叶3 - 6片长，基生。头状花序5-12朵，花管状，花瓣外翻，有香味，紫蓝色。也有粉色和白色花。
♥ 分布：原产于比利时、英国、法国、爱尔兰、荷兰、西班牙和葡萄牙，也作为归化物种分布在德国、意大利和罗马尼亚，太平洋西北和东北北美部分地区。

☞ Hyacinthoides hispanica 西班牙蓝铃花
♥ 特征：区别于英国蓝铃花的是更淡的花色，更大的花形，更直的花茎以及披针形长叶。花药蓝色(英国蓝铃花一般为奶油白色的)，几乎没有芳香气味。有蓝色、白色和粉红色的花朵。
♥ 分布：原产于伊比利亚半岛。分部在葡萄牙、西班牙以及法国沿海地区。

♥ 形态：植株只有2-3片舌形叶，锥形总状花序从上向下依次开放。花期从晚秋直到冬天。
♥ 分部：原产北非的突尼斯和阿尔及利亚。

♥ 特征：与西班牙蓝铃花一样有着纤长的叶片，但呈锥形的总状花序更加紧密，长10-40厘米。
